I believe that Jesus walks with us now as He did when he walked the earth in human form, through the presence of the Holy Spirit.
With this in mind we can know His presence in the same way that the disciples did - same, but different. We as born again believers have the Holy Spirit living in us. Whereas the disciples could only know Jesus' presence when He was physically with them we are able to know His presence all the time, wherever we are. So....filled with the Holy Spirit we are able to perform miracles in the way that Jesus did (controversial!!!??) - by listening for the command of the Father and responding to Him. You may think that this is too simplistic a view so I'm looking for your comments, but if we are in tune with the Holy Spirit and walking in step with Him then we can expect for the words of Jesus to be true about us when He said, "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father." John 14:12
Question.
Why don't we see miracles happening?
Is it that we are blinded, in our culture, to the evidence of God at work?
Is it, maybe, because we are scared of stepping out in the faith we have in Jesus Christ?
Is it that we don't believe?
Is it that we think that signs and wonders were only for the birth of the church?
I would say that we can and do see the miracle working power of God. We can but don't see it every day - we just don't always recognise Him, possibly because we are not 'tuned in' to His way of doing things.
What do you think. What do you know? What have you got to say about this?
